Dog and Canine Pokémon

This collection extends beyond domestic dogs to wolves, foxes and jackals. Some designs also borrow from guardian lions or hyenas; the notes below explain these overlaps.
Pokémon in this collection
Pokémon: 52Rockruff develops into wolf-like forms, while Fidough and Dachsbun combine dogs with dough and bread. Poochyena and Mightyena also mix canine and hyena features; this is a design collection, not biological taxonomy.
Foxes: Vulpix, Fennekin, Zorua and Nickit bring distinct fox designs to the list. Fennekin recalls a fennec fox, while Vulpix draws on fox folklore.
Guardian lions: Growlithe and Arcanine may draw on shisa and komainu, which combine lion and dog imagery.
Mixed animal designs

Eevee and most of its evolutions blend canine and feline traits rather than representing one animal. Entei's lion inspiration and deliberately mixed dog/cat silhouette explain its presence here as a comparison. It also belongs in the feline collection.
