Mega Pokémon and Mega Evolution

Mega Evolution temporarily changes a Pokémon’s form. The sections show each form’s introduction wave, not every game where it appears. Activation and duration depend on the game.

In the earlier core games, Mega Evolution lasts until fainting or the battle ends; Legends: Z-A uses a limited Mega Power period. GO instead uses Mega Energy and an eight-hour transformation outside its permitted battles. These rules do not make the transformed body a separately stored Pokémon.

X and Y

Pokémon: 28

X and Y introduced Mega Evolution. A Key Stone and the matching held Mega Stone enable compatible Pokémon to transform in battle.
