Os itens fazem parte de toda aventura Pokémon desde Red e Green. Alguns são usados a partir da Mochila, como as Poké Bolas e as pedras de evolução, e outros são dados a um Pokémon para segurar e funcionar sozinhos em batalha, como as Frutinhas e a maioria dos itens competitivos.
