Vivillon Forms and Patterns

Each Vivillon keeps its pattern; the way that pattern is selected depends on the game. Geographic patterns, Fancy Pattern and Poké Ball Pattern have different acquisition histories.
Geographic patterns
Pokémon: 18Earlier games use the system’s geographic setting. GO postcards and the GO connection in Scarlet and Violet provide different routes to geographic patterns; transferred individuals retain their existing pattern.
In generations VI and VII, save-creation geography controls newly generated Pokémon; traded Scatterbug keep their assigned result. Scarlet/Violet postcards affect new wild encounters for 24 hours, not earlier catches. Hatched Scatterbug there still produce Fancy Pattern.
Legends: Z-A has Meadow in Lumiose, Garden in hyperspace and Marine from the Spewpa rewarded by Side Mission 021. Champions recruitment supplies High Plains; its other patterns come through HOME.
Special patterns
Pokémon: 2Fancy Pattern is the default evolution result in Scarlet and Violet without a postcard effect. Poké Ball Pattern comes from special distributions and is not produced by breeding or ordinary evolution.
